Each semester class counts as 5 units and each full year gives 10 credits.
No more than seven classes may be taken at a time.
Classes must be at least 5 hours a week to receive 5 units of credit each
semester. Quarterly progress reports must be sent within a
week following the closing date of each quarter in order to receive credit for
that quarter's work unless special arrangements have been made.

Students may take classes from a local community college and receive credit toward
graduation. Send us a copy of the grade slip for credit. Use the following table
to calculate credit for these classes.

Students may also study auto mechanics, woodworking, or some other vocational skill for an elective. Please provide us with lesson plans, or a scope and sequence and a grade signed by the teacher in order to qualify for class credit.
We also offer credit for work experience. Students must have Junior or Senior standing. They must work a minimum of 5 hours to a maximum of 10 hours per week during the school term. 5 units of credit will be given per semester. Prior approval is needed from the Sycamore Tree.
PASSAGE OF A
PROFICIENCY EXAM
A proficiency exam must be passed in the following areas:
Reading (vocabulary and comprehension)
Language Arts (grammar and usage)
Mathematics (basic skills, concepts and applications),
Writing (written communication skills)
Students must take the proficiency exam provided bye their own state, for
example, California students must pass the California High School Proficiency
Exam (CHSPE). If your state does not offer a proficiency exam, you must contact
Sycamore Academy at the beginning of the second semester of the senior year.
GRADUATION FEE
A $50.00 graduation fee is due at the beginning of the second
semester of the Senior year.
